At a certain point in your game, you'll get what's known as an "Endgame Crisis". The different techs that are labelled "Dangerous" influence which type of crisis you get.
Without any spoilers, I will say, you probably do want to research jump drives. They give you a considerable mobility advantage.
Only if you're unlucky. Otherwise, it's no worse than the others.
This crisis is mega rare. I always take this tech and encountered this crisis once. And the bonus is well worth it.
Not inevitable... If you have turned Crisis OFF..... but the game will still say these are dangerous techs regardless of whether you have Crisis turned on or off
End game crisis can be a blessing or a curse depending on where it starts, If you have a large emprie then expect it to start somewhere in or near your orders. But if you have a tech heavy smaller nation you will be able to hopefully avoid the first wave and have time to build up a defence.
Just as a warning, End Crisis fleets are A LOT stronger than the regular empire game fleets. Expect fleet power in the millions range.
Aren't you exagerating? Unless OP is playing with crisis strengh higher than vanilla the fleets shouldn't go beyond 200.000, and even then most crisis will have fleets between 50.000-100.000
It scales with map size and crisis strength. Unless Paradox nerfed crisis strength, they can hit millions easily. Are you talking about individual fleet strength or total? 100k-200k sounds like the power level for just one of their fleets, not total crisis strength.
Yeah I was refering to the power of one fleet, I assumed you meant that since knowing the total fleet power af a crisis isn't really useful since, at least that's my case, I end up fighting a maximum of 3 fleets at the same time usually.
