Unity ambitions vs 4th tradition tree as Determined Exterminator
I am only interested in the Synthetic Age and Master Builders, right after getting the Technological Ascendency and the Galactic Wonders ascension perks. Is it better to skip opening the 4th tradition tree and keep the unity ambition prices low?

Currently only have 1 and a half traditions completed but just 9999 unity from the precursor and plan on spending them after i build admin cap buildings. I got the "Gardener" event that gives +40% boost to unity production in a Gaia world. The bonuses from unity ambitions seem twice as strong as ascension perks! +20% research? +5 influence? +33% minerals? Why shouldn't i just keep those prices low? At least until i get some research and megastructures down?

Also, if i go this way, should i get the Machine Worlds? I want to rush Dyson Spheres though!

I thought the prices from ambitions are determined by pops/empire sprawl?

Edit:
Ok i thought wrong
Wiki:
They cost base  Unity equal to the next tradition to activate, but do not further increase tradition costs. They are the only use for  Unity after all traditions are adopted.

Yeah they seem extremely OP if you're okay with missing out a few traditions and perks. Aside from Supremacy, Expansion and Discovery, I only want the +1 maintenance for every 20 pops and +3 admin cap and -2 deviance from coordinators. And seems like Machine worlds will also have to wait, but i am not short of planets.
After you've unlocked all of your traditions there's nothing else to spend unity on other than unity ambitions. Typically, I find that I have more than enough unity output to afford every unity ambition I might want to use at that point. Indeed, sometimes I will replace some buildings to lower my unity output, because after budgeting for unity ambitions there is still too much unity to spend. Therefore, my opinion is that keeping down the cost of unity ambitions is unnecessary. In most situations, all you will accomplish is to deny yourself access to tradition abilities and ascension perks.

There may be some situations where activating one or more unity ambitions would take precedence over unlocking the last few tradition trees, but a situation where you are delaying access to machine worlds is not such a situation.

As determined exterminators i don't really have any source of unity other than unity buildings. And this is also for the early mid-game, not endgame. If i should use unity edicts (especially for research, influence and megastructures) BEFORE the 5th ascension perk. Already have 3 from traditions and 1 from research

its pretty difficult to NOT produce enough unity to keep all ambitions going 24/7 so no your just gimping yourself. the first cycle of ambitions you make not be able to get them all but your unity pool will catch up as it has no traditions to perk anymore and you'll be running them 24/7

As Determined Exterminator? Before 2300? My wording wasn't right, i meant "temporarily" not opening the tradition tree to get some tech and megastructures going
