[Possible bug?] Nivlac not breeding
Howdy all -

I'm playing a race of assimilators and came across the Nivlac chain. With their habitability and growth rate, I was excited at the idea of planets growing crazy fast.

After their assimilation, I've not had a single population growth from them. Twenty years later, I have the same 5 population. I've even sent them ahead to other desert/arid planets that were wide open, no growth.

Am I missing something?

It's irksome because I can't set it to default, but I change every assimilated race start breeding up ASAP so I can quickly colonize other planets using their new climate adaptability.

Did you set species rights to "reproduction allowed"? Because I can't think of any other possibility for every single pop to lock out reproduction. In my experience, Nivacs breed fairly fast.

Try reloading and see if it persists? Sometimes the game does jam.

Did a full computer restart, still no good.

None of my species migrate, even with migration enabled. I figured that was a part of them all becoming cyborgs. Maybe their race-specific rapid breeding conflicts with the cyborg upgrade?
After a species finishes assimilation the assimilated version of that species will have different rights, possibly radically different than the rights they had during assimilation. Make sure you select the entry for the assimilated version of the species in the species list and edit the rights to see first-hand how they are actually set. You may need to make changes to each new species you assimilate, because although there is a way to set the default rights for new species so that they will be automatically assimilated, there is no way to set a default for what the rights of a new species will be after the assimilation completes.

I really don't know how many times I can say it - I've done that. I've manually adjusted every race I've assimilated immediately after assimilation.

In the last three games I've started, it's only been assimilation games. I'm not new to adjusting the assimilated.

There are five assimilated species in my current game's empire, including the Nivlac. They're all set to identical rights - breeding allowed, migration allowed, military service allowed, colonization allowed. Only the Nivlac don't reproduce.

I didn't even know the Nivlac were an encounter until this most recent game.

No offense was intended. When troubleshooting a problem it is important to make sure there is no misunderstanding about the problem, on either side. Sometimes that means asking questions that seem like they've already been answered or suggesting solutions that appear obvious.

I have never assimilated Nivlac, so I don't have any personal experience with your situation. From your description, it sounds like they are bugged. Are you using any mods? If so, which ones?

the migration bit would be due to them being part of a hive mind. pops only move if they'll be happier where they're moving to and since they don't have happiness they'll stay put

Apologies for getting sensitive. My lashing out was undeserved.

I figured as much, with regards to Meewec's comment. I never looked into it very deeply but thought it was tied to happiness or habitability. I threw out the latter as a possibility when, after assimilating humans, they stayed on their desert planets.

I do not use any mods for the game.

I did spread them out to other planets, to see if it may have been a stuck on the planet bug. They stayed in their individual populations on those other planets.
You aren't alone. A number of achievements I've found to be blocked by bugs. Assimilators in general are broken.

Ah well. Someone to toss onto a tomb worlds with the robots, I suppose

I didn't read that this was fixed in the latest patch notes :-( they toned down their bonus tho to half of each, 50% hab and 25% growth (mostly cause growth is OP now)
