Please help, can't build more starbases/claim new systems
Hey,

I dunno what's the problem but I'm unable to claim more territorys. It's explored, my construction ship is there, not hostile presence, and I have plenty of influence (900) and this other ressource you need, don't know the name.

The button to construct a starbase is highlighted, I can click it, but when I do so, I can't click on the star to start construction.

Any idea what I'm missing here?

It's my 7th system I want to claim.

Go to galaxy map, select a constructor, right click the system.

I did, thank you but that wasn't the problem. I've found out now that there was still one single planet unexplored. For some reason my explorer ship must have interrupt/stopped exploration before system was finished.

Now I can build the star base and claim it

It was just because it's easier than selecting the starbase icon in the construction menu and clicking on a star.

Yes that's true and you can the exact cost of influence then. Thank you for the hint!

sometimes if you research an anomaly that can interrupt the survey of a system and it might miss a planet. Another possibility is you interrupted the survey of the system without realizing it.

the galaxy map also conveniently shows you if the system if fully explored or not. iirc the name goes from grey to white.

Ah didn't realized that, thank you!

This game is a lot learning by doing I see. Though it feels like colonization takes centuries. And last time I played Stellaris the planets overview and building system was different. No districts and less different ressources. But this might also have changed because I bought the Utopia DLC.

Utopia doesn't change anything about planetary management, unless you use a hive mind empire which has different buildings and their pops don't cooldowns for demotion.

Well last time I played there was no hive mind option/race. I think it's just long ago and game got patched and updated a lot ^^

Hive Minds were introduced with Utopia update 3 years ago
There are also machine empires introduced with Synthetic Dawn that behave similarly.

Ye like said long time. Many things changed. Also the border behaviour. When I last time played you were only able to build outposts in systems that are in the borders of your empire. And you had to do research and colonize planets to extend the borders.

Now you just explore a system and then you build a starbase. But that's okay, it's easier and I like it.

Also new is the exhaustion system during war. A War back then had no time limit. It was only over when you offered or accepted peace or by total destruction of the hostile faction.

Space stations were different. You were able to upgrade them all to max, no limit here but with every upgrade maintenance costs went up. So it was more a question of your resource production then research/increase the limit.

And some other stuff. So it might be probably even 4-5 years when I last time played it, dunno. But it's cool, now I can explore new stuff. Just have to (re)learn now how the game works after all these updates :-)

If last time you played was before 2.0 then that was around 3 to 2.5 years ago.
