But I would have lost anyway. When they spawned, I was at about 60-65k fleets power VS I guess 80-100k.
My frustration comes from the fact the event CAN happen even when the marauder are clearly defeated with less than a month before being wiped out.
Anyway, I just had to vent it out. I know my game can be saved, but it sets me back like 15-20 years with the out-of-nowhere rampaging from the awakening.
Go hit and run tactics, then repair up and kill the fleets one at a time?
Not only "can" it happen - it is, in fact, far *more* likely to happen. Every Marauder station you destroy is a trigger for the Khan event occurring.
I think I am going to have a great khan next to me in my current mp-run.
In my current game captain) things got really bad fairly quick. 60-70 years in. Stuck between a federation-trio to the south (that start) and a aggressive northern neighboer. Map-placement really got me in a crowded area. Both just wants me dead. Only one avaiable planet so far (always playing without guaranteed). I decided to take my fleet to kill some alien menaces on the other side of the empire and they decided hit me hard (separate wars, north dude first), no chance to get back and reinforce my stations that was supposed to work in tandem with fleet and got steamrolled. No problem dealing with em 1v1 but never got the chance since they teamed up.
I lost almost everything down to my planet and a few surronding system. Some simply ragequit at this point, my buds asking if im giving up. Was considering it, but hell no! Focus time! Spent the next years balancing resources and pumped out ships. First war a few systems back, still the trouble in not having a single foe but several, as soon as the truces were up it was crushing time.
From me; I prefer not using console command. I understand it can solve a problem, but I prefer to face the game head-on.(Not bragging, just preference.)
And about Marauder. The irony is that I was in my first large galaxy (800) and the two marauders spawned in the vicinity. My first 80 years were all about, enough to bribe, enough to defend my border, enough peace for one more colony....
My main issue remains; How is it logical, you are less then a month from dying, and you reappear from nowhere reinforced.
Thanks !
Also i personally always have a deathstar station at every chokepoint in my empire. By the time you have 100k fleets you should also have at least 60-80k stations. In the situation you describe the enemy fleet wouldnt be strong enough to go through more than one of those to get to your empires juicy bits.
