"Host has another version of the game"
So me and my friend tried to play Stellaris together and we had the same version of the game and 0 mods enabled and the same checksum but whenever I tried to join it would just say "the host has another version of the game". I tried troubleshooting and even redownloading the game but I still keep getting the same problem.

Do you both have the same DLC? There's a sticky at the top of the forum that says to disable Creatures of the Void but I'm not sure how old that advice is.

Yea the this problem is due to the reason that you change hosts, and the other player does not have all the same DLCs.

this is not true, i played earlier today with 4 people at once, i own all dlc's and none of them owned any, we played without problems.

You would be able to play without any problems... as long as you are the host. If someone else, who does not own all of the DLC, tried to take over being the host, then there would be a problem, as they said.

If your on the beta patch and they are not it would also give you a different version

The post you responded to, and quoted in your response, specifically states that:

you change hosts

Now, the op did not state that hosts had changed, but I believe that Bloodlance was trying to provide information that applied to that situation, in case that was what was happening. Based on the op's subsequent replies it seems that this is not the case, but it is still valid information even if it does not apply in this situation.

I managed to fix it by moving the install folder to a larger disk. Sorry for the trouble!

I've run into the many times. Same versions, dlc, addons, mods for all computers and it still only connects 1 out of every 5 or so tries. It seems like it has got to be an issue with the paradox launcher, or am I off base here?

What is the developers reason for even having a separate launcher? I honestly don't know what the advantage is.
