Gateway while at war
My empire has the Galaxy’s doorstep trait where I get a gateway in my home system. With my bountiful luck, the people on the other side where Fanatic Purifiers. So we enevitably went to war. My fleets where poised, ready to strike across the gateway, only for them to stall, since the FP empire has closed their boarders with me. As a result, I cannot use the gateway. So we are now stuck on opposite sides of the galaxy throwing naught but insults at each other through a gateway that I cannot use because we are at war. *sigh*

wait what you were in war but the borders were closed? ?? ?? ? ? ??

Nearby FE not involved in the conflict closed their borders.

Is there something I'm missing? The only thing I see wrong here is that OP didn't know you can't use gateways into enemy systems.

No, the borders are open. Gateways cannot be used unless both sides are friendly to the fleet that will use them. Neither side of the war can attack the other, because each controls only one gateway and the other side is hostile.

Not FE, FP, meaning the Fanatic Purifiers that own the other gateway.

I was not aware about the restriction on gateway use while at war. I had wrongfully assumed I would be able to use it despite the war. Good news is two other empires dog piled the Purifiers, I was able to snag the system after they collapsed.
