I'll give the base game a shot :D
sadly, there is nothing to "master" and ever grand admiral is trivial.
random component is significant, you may get lucky and steamroll entire galaxy by 2300 or get boxed with genodical empires and have really boring tower defence gameplay.
First month is 1£ then 4.
And you get all Stellaris content, all DLCs including Federations.
The only downside is that you cant use Steam Workshop for modding. but as you said, you are new so you dont really need those mods. and if you like the game then you can buy it on steam on a sale or something.
Well, it's my first time trying this but I do like to think that other people's ease could be other people's difficulty.
Oh wow I've never heard about this before! Thanks for letting me know.
Yeah, the steam workshop exclusion is quite a bummer for me :(

Utopia gives the three unique game-play and very powerful mechanics in ascension paths.
