its just a free origin so the poor base game players wouldnt have like 2 origins to play
Roleplay reasons - Players have been asking for an origin like this since release, with how there are two human Earth empires.
Well, actually, it seems like you could potentially form a migration treaty with them, so in that sense, if some of them move into your colonies, that's a form of uniting. Maybe there's a scenario where you can become more powerful than them and make them a vassal, I don't know. That would be kind of weird, huh? Very space-opera-ey.
Haven't checked yet, but wouldn't it be possible to have diplomatic relations with them as well?

Or you could just become far more powerful and hope they're willing to become your protectorate.
