Stellaris multiplayer broken
Hi,

Warning to people who think to buy this game and play multiplayer.

Do not buy this game for multiplayer. Only singleplayer works well.

Multiplayer is riled with desync issues and the developer only wants to make money with DLCs and i have seen ZERO interest in fixing the desync issues.

Multiple friends, Multiple different computers, solid computers, solid internet connections, nothing helps.

Stellaris multiplayer = broken.

Sorry bro, but that´s just not true. I played 6 Hours yesterday playing MP with a friend. Not a single desync or other problems.

Yea its still an option in the multiplayer host selection screen, so if that is the reason, perhaps they should remove some aspects from their game.

Tho, I am 100% sure, the problem is in all of the galaxy size levels. Errors are 100% random and the game breaks down completely.

Game doesnt and probably has never worked past like 8-10 hours of gameplay in multiplayer. If it ever has fixed the desync, rest assured the next time they added more $20 DLC broke it again.

try not designing ships or ordering ships to move while the game is paused, apparently that helps a lot. you can also crank down the speed below normal to help with people trying to do these things having time.

also, most patches have some kind of fix for desyncs in them

Okay so Try not having fun? This game hasnt worked well in ages. I have pretty much stopped playing completely. Which sucks because I really liked playing this game with a group of friends.

If you wanna multiplayer really badly then you need to run a vpn. This will eliminate most of the desync issues. As for the FPS drops that seem to occur when l-clusters were discovered or the game progresses. I dunno how to fix that... Maybe kill a bunch of AI empires and reduce the units on the map??

A little tid bit of info, I was playing a different Paradox game called Age of wonders planetfall and started experiencing desyncs within the last month. I put a post on that forum and they did confirm there were server isssues and a vpn will fix desyncs. So it seems like its a trend with Paradox games now.

I personally hate this because I really enjoy Stellaris, Age of wonders planetfall but setting up hamachi can be a pain. There is always one person who doesn't have it properly configured and can't access there router.

i played with normal speed, 7 hours, then desync and reload and everything and no bonus, its broken with desync.

next day played again, new game, normal speed, 6 hours, desync and same thing, loading saves do not help, it will randomly desync inside 12 months.

Multiplayer as of now in Stellaris, mid-late game, it will be broken for many many players, and there is ZERO Interest from devs to fix anything.

Sadly I have to be one of the people siding with this. The dysinc problems are so bad in my last 2 games that one player fought a war for 8 years, only to find in the host's game, it didn't happen a all. Rejoining just made him desync immediately. Happened to every player eveyr time, it as terrible

For me it was my friend almost losing a colossus and several systems because of the desync. Not as bad as yours, but still not great for lategame playing.

Experiencing this now, after switching hosts--when the other player hosted we didn't have desync issues, the game would just completely disconnect and we'd have to reload the save (which took ages--at least that is way faster when I host).

I only play with a friend in MP, I've had 3 desync in 50 hours
Bloodlance Apr 1, 2020 @ 1:56am
well desync means, you reload and play a bit and it desyncs again and after a while its unplayable as you need to reload almost monthly all the time. = game over start a new game = loose x hours of gameplay. = not fun.

Got the same issue. Even now we cannot start MP - desync starts from begining. MP doesnot working.

Same experience here, we've tried multiple times with my friend, sometime around 2300 the first desync appears which very soon results in an unplayable savegame. The first phase of the game is fun, that is true, but we would certainly like to play midgame-endgame too, which currently does not seem to be possible at all.

Hopefully the developers fix the problem!

i have been hoping for a fix for the past 2 DLCs.

Me and my friends been having same issues we were having a epic new game with the new DLC and all the new toys.
But all we get is desyncs, we running a large galaxy with 3 human players.

Seemed ok on previous versions, but lastest update seems really really bad for it and we given up!

I get the same issues, the first 100 years (several hours of gameplay since we play on normal speed) are fine then desyncs every few minutes in the midgame make it uplayable. I play with 1 other person so even small games are broken.
