Its my understanding that its triggered by a science ship surverying a black hole
You just need to move a fleet into *a* black hole system- If the chain starts there, you'll get an event for it immediately. You also don't need to worry about the AI stealing it from you.
What will be will be. or whatever...
It was creepy for me to say the least.
That might be helpful.
I don't think its possible to trigger the chain on every playthrough, I've had it once in four (fairly complete) playthroughs.
Any ideas/tips?
It does, make sure you have a science ship selected when you type it in. Stellaris events are very much tied to their "root" -- a ship, a planet, etc, you have to have the right type selected.
