Population Cap for Planets
I really am getting annoyed by the non-stop growing of pops on planets. I believe there should be a limit placed on how many pops can grow. Since the max population needed to construct all buildings in available planetary slots is 75, pops should be set to stop growing when 75 pops are already present on a planet. This is something that the Stellaris developers should very much consider implementing in the game. This would resolve at least one issue regarding populations on planets. This should also apply for orbital habitats in regards to the max pop needed to construct buildings in all slots available.

Your proposal would make Commercial Zones and any sort of upgraded building (as well as certain kinds of slavery) almost completely worthless. I very often have more than 75 pops per planet (indeed, you need 80 pops to unlock the largest upgrade to the admin building), even without using the Ecumenopolis option (which can support literally hundreds of pops).

It would make much more sense to make the "stop population growth" decision easier (in the sense that the Egalitarian faction is OK with it) if a planet has any of the following:
-Zero or Negative Amenities
-Zero or Negative Housing
-More Pops than Jobs

That way, instead of putting more pops on an already-overpopulated planet, the pops would automatically emigrate to another planet (if available), instead of the current system where growth doesn't really stop until you've got three-four pops that are unhoused.

There is no cap, but you can enact a stop growing decision.
Pops will no longer grow on that planet and will only cause pops on other planets to grow faster through emigration.

Do note how ever, they will take 25% more consumer goods

Yeah, especially for authoritarians the growth decision basically stops the planet cold. I don't have the Megacorp DLC but I've found ecumenopoli twice in four games and they really soak up a lot of unemployed specialists too. Except for rulers, but life is always so good on the ecumenopolis you can just leave them to wander around the leisure complexes and enjoy their unemployment.

Because you can have many more jobs than 75?

well something must be done, and i think the best would be if
no free housing, then no grow of pop..

Does low space prevent people from having babies now? You can't really tell people: there's no space so you can't have your baby.

well then maybe population also should die of old age, not only leaders..

Yes!! when planet is at cap.. everyone gets neutered... :steamsad:

Then we should already be doing that go tell your friends they can't have babies.
Pops do die, but they also grow at the same time.. that's why when you do enact neutering of a species.. the species dies out from old age.

That's why it's called growth rate, they have more pops born rather than death.

It's also why authoritarian factions have some advantage over egalitarians in the longrun with regards to population control. Even if not as much economic advantage (which is a bit of a toss up).

If you really are concerned about it, and no longer finding spots to put them.. then you should be playing authoritarian or non-egalitarian.
