Energy Siphon worth it?
Hello all.
I have the change to research Frequency Tuning, unlocks Energy Siphon.
I did a bit of reading online but opinions seem split.
Has this changed with 2.2?

So maybe a valid choice if it comes real early in game?

I'd rather just use regular autocannon instead then.

Autocannon, usually, comes later... if you bother researching it at all, that is.

I mean railguns.

Sure, but railguns come at the same time autocannons do, and everything below them (tier 1&2) is actually worse.

Railgun is starter.

It's great EARLY game gun, that can carry you through 1-2 conquests.

And NVB while great - actually useless ~ until T3 enemy tech (too low shield values to make it viable).

So as for me it's one of the best starts, when you can kill some space cows for it (especially as I tend to ignore entire railgun tree if can).

Energy siphon is COMPLETELY better then starter railgun and T2 railgun. As anti-shield weapon is also better then T3 railgun.

The alien weapons are like T2.5

I'll have to look at it again then.
Won't you need the railgun tree anyway if you want giga cannon?

Why on the Earth I will want it? I don't have any place for kinetic damage repeatables in the end.

When you say early game, what date would I be looking at? Just started a new game and have the option again.
