Killing an alien species isn't genocide and isn't any more immoral than making any other animal species go extinct. In fact it is more moral since those alien species threaten your future so killing them is self defense.
But it wouldn't. Killing OTHER HUMANS is genocide. Killing aliens from a completely different planet with no shared history that you've only just discovered isn't. Killing animals makes people sad but it aint genocide. You aren't ending another HUMAN life. Just like eating beef isn't the same as eating human flesh. There is a very specific reason why one is not allowed but the other is.
