Question about reforming government
So, here's the problem....I researched the tech that allows me to get 1 more civic trait, but the problem is that if i go to the ''reform government'' panel, i am forced into changing form of government. Problem is that, if i do it, i wil have to change one more trait that requires the oligarchy.

Is there a way to not being forced to change government?

What do you mean when you say you are forced to change government? You should be able to just click one new civic to add to the two you already have, and then click the button to make the change. There shouldn't be anything forcing you out of oligarchy, or forcing you to change either of your current civics if you choose not to do so. If for some reason you were forced out of oligarchy then that change should have taken place already, and any oligarchy-dependent civics should already have been disabled.

I mean that i cannot click the ''reform'' button, unless i change type of government. And besides, the only two types that i am allowed to pick are ''dictatorship'' and ''empire''. Currently, i am oligarchy.

I am guessing factions have something to do with this....i havent figured out how they exactly work, at the moment

you should be able to just reform once you add another civic

did you change your ethics? afaik the only way to make oligarchy invalid is fanatic authoritarian ethos. which means you probably didn't start out as fanatic authoritarian, otherwise the choice of oligarchy would have been invalid at the start of the game

Can you post a couple screenshots of the process?
Also:
Are you using any mods?
What civics do you have currently?
What civic are you trying to add?

i know this is a rather old forum, but i ran into this issue today and was curious if anyone had an answer for it... just as OP said, i am prompted to spend a civic point but when i go to spend it my only option is to change from corporation to democratic. i havent had this issue in the past.

MegaCorps can't be Fanatic Egalitarian or Fanatic Authoritarian. You probably embraced a faction at some point and shifted your ethics too far on that scale.
