bombardment fix?
Why does it take 5 min to bomb 1 pop off a planet on fastest game speed with a 100k power fleet in indiscriminate bombing stance? Even Pox is like dropping confetti on a planet...

There needs to be a reason for the Colossus to exist I guess

Do they have planetary shielding? If it was too fast, assault armies and colossi as mentioned earlier wouldn't have a function except for preserving/annihilating the planet

I rarely play without mods, but I agree with the OP.

Not only does vanilla bombardment (even on an unshielded planet) tie up a significant portion of your fleet for a long time, but there's also the passive war exhaustion that steadily creeps in on your plans for domination while it happens. What should be a small war threatens to turn into an enforced status quo if you don't land troops (and, just like the OP, this is with pox).

My most recent vanilla game featured simultaneous wars to the north and south of my empire (stretching over 20-25% of 1,000 star galaxy, no gateway tech). Southern fleet had the colossus and decimated a bunch of worlds and ended their war while my northern fleets (300k-ish strong) twiddled their pox-ridden wieners in orbit of one planet (devastated, but pops were still present). I would have driven the old colossus up north, but ETA was almost four years.

Sometimes I wonder why only 30% of players have attained the achievement of colonizing their first planet (global stats). Then I realize the ease with which we can mod (most) problems away and it all makes sense.

Ok. so is there a mod to increase the rate at which pops die from bombardment of Pox or indiscriminate? Or can someone tell me what to change where?

I tried to mess with the file 00_bombardment_stances.txt, but I'm a noob with coded items. No matter what I change the values too nothing happens. Maybe it is the default values? I have not tried to change them.

kill_pop_chance = { # Chance that a pop is killed when planetary damage reaches 100%, default = 0
# base = 0.25
# }

ALso what is this one mean:

min_pops_to_kill_pop = 11

I dont have the Titan ship DLC, and just want to be able to smoke pops off planets without having to genocide them because that kills diplomacy, even though I did find a mod to help with that.

Lastly, I don't like to take over a lot of planets because then it is a never ending ♥♥♥♥ fest with the taken over residents no matter what I do, slave processing facility etc the game becomes a manage all these pissed of pops game and the microing is already brutal in this game. So, I like to wipe out a planet after I've established my main set of planets, so that I'm not stuck dealing with pops from other races that are never happy no matter what I try to do for them after invading their planet. Waste of time, need to bomb them off.

Like this can't be that hard what do you guys change to fix this garbage in this file, or another, because my changes have 0 effect so far. Does it not work unless you start a new game when these are changed?

Also, where is a mod for planets to for real auto build needed buildings etc, super tiresome to deal with planets needs ever 2 seconds.

Thnx

To answer the initial post a bit better, I believe it was in the old 1.9/1.8 stellaris, where you could basically own and conquer planets with nothing more than a fleet. There was realistically no reason to have any land army, whatsoever

I have no answer to provide on the changing of value, but what I can offer is the advice of using more land armies to take over a planet; and things like starting experience for an army is more valuable than a general commanding it.

without war exhaustion,you can just take enemy spaceport and go do other things without they coming back,but they wouldn't surrender either,so you still need armies to get all the warscore

See that is exactly what I don't want to do. What then once I have a planet I don't want that I just wanted to remove the pops from?

I don't like to have a ton of planets cauze then it's microing too many alien pops that are pissed off every second causing problems.

Then you just stop planetary pop growth purge them

Yea, then diplomacy is broken. How about bombardment that is effective instead,?
Use collosus, Play a fanatic purifier, driven exterminator or devouring swarm.

Or use this mod:

Vassalize / subsidiaries would be a solution, here, depending on which government you chose.

Turn that pop micro problem into a defensive wall/ additional ally.

Exterminatus is way out dated I can't get it to work.

00_bombardment_stances.txt

under indiscriminate change all the values to like 9.5 and now indiscriminate doesn't suck anymore.

planet_damage = 9.5
army_damage = 9.5

kill_pop_chance = {
base = 9.5
}
min_pops_to_kill_pop = 1

Change that last one to a 1 ^

Then get armageddon_bombardment_stances mod
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1930447109

Bomb a planet indiscriminately till population has reaches 1

Switch to Pox and BOOM Tomb World

Your welcome for anyone trying to figure this out I finally went and did it myself...
