Inactive Civics - Lost Inward Perfection
I've also lost most (more than half) of my monthly influence. The factions supporting me are still the most numerous and have at least 60% support and make up 60% of the total population. (Wish the game told you why you lost a civic rather than just saying it isn't working....)
Ideas anyone?

Inward Perfection requires that your empire's ethics include both xenophobe and pacifist in some form. These are the only requirements.
Did you change your empire's ethics in a way that this is no longer the case, such as switching one of the two ethics out for a different one?

No. I didn't touch them. However, I noticed that my Unity dropped to 1 when I build a base at a choke point some distance from my main area, even though my admin was still only 2/3 of my maximum. I suspect that that particular selection doesn't favor growing empires.

I'll admit your description confuses me. Inward Perfection has no relevance for influence generation. Building bases costs influence, not unity, and it's also a single payment, not a monthly upkeep. Going over your starbase capacity does not affect either influence or unity as it simply increases starbase upkeep, which is energy.

If you embraced a faction you changed ethics. If you didnt some mods has mucked up. You cant remove starter civics(civics that have a big impact on how your empire works such as inward perfection, technocracy, exalted priesthood). Some are disabled by changing ethics but that can never be removed.

i remember that there is an event (old gods evet chain) that can shift your ethics towards spiritualist. there's also a shroud event (psionic) that can changes your empire to some sort fanatic spiritualist god emperor government.

probably also some other events that can change your ethics if you pick the corresponding outcome.

so you can also change ethics without manually ordering an ethics shift on the factions screen.

You can remove technocrat, and exalted priest hood.

It is only inwards perfectionist, gaia world, tomb world, or mechanist starts, barbaric despoilers, fanatic purifiers, among a few others.

Basically anything with a starting condition, or anything with extreme diplomatic repurcusions.
