Sudden economy crash (plz help!)
Im at the years 2276 and i just won a war with one of my fanatical religious neighbor.
I took 5 systeme( 0 planets i dont know if its relevant)

I am a multi-cultural empire with 2 protectorate (3 soon) and i would say that many species keep coming to live a perfect world in my empire.
6 species to be clear.

The problems is that my economy was pretty solid, i was wining 50 energy easy with more then 110 minerals and 20 consommer goods. Now i lost -30 energy my minerals is 29 and my consommer goods is -31

Oh and foods... -28!

to be more specific i did not build any ship, remove any building or any noob thing. To be fair, i do not understand what is hapening !

When i look at my production tab in my planet view is see a modifier like -50% empire when i look at my production of minerals exemple.

What is the empire modifier? -50% where this thing come from! Could that be the reason of my sudden economy crash ?

My system cap is 120 but i have 140 could that be the problems ?

Btw i love this game and the update so far ! But i think finaly that im probably a noob....

First time i post so i dont know is my text is enough specific

Thanks in advance
im french, is there any language curiosity

two things that hurt my income a lot were using Discourage Planetary Growth in a bunch of places, which increases pop upkeep a lot, (so reduces food and consumer goods a lot), and the other was piracy, which can get to really insane levels. I wish my starbases were more effective at combating piracy but pirate bases can apparently pop up right next to fully upgraded starbases.

It’s five years and by mousing over the pop you should see how much longer

I have the problem of a crashing industry too. -300 food per turn :( I compared my current food production with an older save. Currently my farmers produce around 4.1 food. In the older save, they produced 7.2 food. That is pretty much accross all planets.

Is there a hidden penalty to job production for larger empires?

Check for shortages. Shortages of special resources like exotic gases or crystals is a 25% penalty across the board. Running out of food or consumer goods will drop your happiness, which will also hurt production.

It seems to be pretty common for people to get like +2 production of crystals at some point and let the stockpile grow to 200 or so, then go in and upgrade 4 buildings that use it. Suddenly your production is -2 now, and after a while the rest of your stockpile is used up and you have a 25% penalty from a shortage. And if it isn't dealt with you quickly start running short on other things and racking up more and more penalties.

exactly, buy whats needed till you can create more buildings to supply whats needed to avoid a crash, once you have payed for whats needed you will be able to work on the real problem supply, in my last or second last game I have had my economy drop to -600 or more for just about everything other than minerals/alloys/rare gas/motes it took me however long it takes to build a ringworld to fix my food it took a few habitats to fix the rest since I keep my alloy and consumer goods production on habitats since they can't have trade builds like normal worlds can, I sold off a lot of stuff even alloys(last resort) since I was making around 400 per month just to keep afloat

Empire size does not effect production anymore it does however effect how much stuff costs like research and both the cost of buying new leaders and the upkeep for each and every leader
