When playing a devouring swarm i always kinda loose,... when i take a planet (or 5) i instantly jump into the high 3 digit negative values for everything but food.
I can't figure out what is causing this. I realize my fleets are not near a station, so they loose the 25% upkeep reduction, but i am 3 digit positive when they leave the station. Just when i get some new planets it all turns red and there does not seem to be an indication as to why.
The new system really makes it hard to have a clear picture of what is happening.
The worst is when i have like 50k Energy when starting a war, with a +400 trend. Then, midway of conquering my neighbour, i suddenly have -500, all energy gone... and 75% damage debuff to all my fleets kicks in.
Really strange. But yes, i am getting similar results that i can't explain.
Yup pretty much that, even with a 80% habitability u get a +20% buff to food/cg consumption this is kinda cripling
Plus I have a 25% Empire to food consumption and I have no clue whats that even for
and on top of everything Im playing with the wastfull perk
just freaking great
-500 .. BY THE EMPEROR!
Each building has an upkeep (even yellow districts, so make sure they are manned), since your food should be conquered pops (for a while) and minerals suck energy, you should sell all their red districts (and non-basic resources generators like alloy refineries) and focus on pop growth+energy, another thing to look out for is starbase upkeeps, for some reason AIs build'em randomly just to put a meatbag between your fleet and their planets, downgrade'em, the new Stellaris economic system really shines in the resell aspect because you can make so many minerals you'll want to use'em like that.
An extra tip: resource silos+solar panels on below-cap starbases.
That's what I've been doing to restart conquered planets' economy with my Swarm.
One last thing: don't automate your sectors, the AI is super crappy, I only activated it once and instantly regret a couple years later, like, the AI let it collapse, sold every single district and just sat there with negative stats (started with positive under my usage).
