No Authoritarian Communism
This one is kinda bothering me. I wanted to create a Soviet/Mao-Style Communist Dictatorship, but the only option is a Anarchist-Syndicalist Anti-Authoritarian style.

Am I the only one who finds that a shame? I looked forward to roleplaying a World where the Soviet Union or Maoist China won the Cold War. Hope I am not the only one and a modder will add something like that.

Augustus, I blame you for all this, you lobbed a word grenade into the room then ran off. :steammocking:

This should fix your issue but obviously not if you're wanting to do a vanilla run.
On other hand if you don't mind this is ideal.

Shared burden wouldn't really work for modeling an actual communist dictatorship given that none of them actually created absolute equality, they just created a new ruling class. Just take Oligarchy or Dictatorship authority, Authoritarian and Materialist ethics, and Police State, Cutthroat Politics, etc. for civics. Throw in the thematically appropriate new adviser voice and you're all set.

It wasn't real communism.

"Authoritarian communism" is redundant. If you want to play as a commie, just play as one of the dictatorship-type governments. Same thing.

One of those clown fiestas wouldn't make it into the FTL era, even in a fictional setting, that's why it isn't available.

Man, you guys could just help him...?

Augustus, some of them did bring up an important point, how "ideal" do you want your communist empire to be? Really, really communist or monarchy/dictatorship dressed up as communist or even the current day "republic communism"? How "strict"? Free communism where there are no controls? Or dictatorial communism where the state runs everything?

Yeah, but I kinda want the flavor and special Government. Not to forget the special living standard. It's not the same when the game doesn't acknowledge it as such.

Hm, I do think it works. It doesn't say there isn't a special "ruling" class, but that all work is divided equally. In a authoritarian Communist Civ I imagine it to be like the forced collectivization by Stalin:

Just on a more massive style. Though true, it isn't exactly like that, so maybe a separate Authoritarian Version would be great.

Sure, sure. Just like Nazi Germany wasn't real Fascism.

Not totally true, the reason they're called "Communists" comes from the word "Commune" and there have been hippie communes before, though nothing I would want as a government. It just ended up that the really famous Communists are the ones that make really big headline news. i.e the "Invade Poland" ones. I can see a really, really laid back specie becoming communist without the authoritarianism.

Thank you for being so sensible :) .

As I wrote, I hoped to roleplay a Soviet Union (Pre-Anti-Stalinism) or Maoist China. Aka a Marxist-Leninist-Stalinist one with a Party and a very prominent Party Leader with forced collectivization and a heavy bureaucracy. EDIT: And a heavy-handed Propaganda and Cultural Influence.

Obviously we could, though probably shouldn't (here on this platform at least), debate how much "Communist" it really is, but I hope everyone understands what exactly I am going for.
