"Unable to locate the configuration file"

Just bought this game, can't run it through Steam because of this error. I've tried a reinstall and I've tried verifying integrity of the game files, and it gave me the same error. I've launching issues with other Paradox titles ever since they brought out the new launcher, maybe it's related? But it doesn't even... launch the launcher for Stellaris, it just gobbles up my CPU and does nothing. However, if I bypass Steam and the launcher by running it directly from the game folder, it seems to work. Can anyone tell me what the problem is?

you mean the launcher config file or one of the other files? if so try reverting it back one version under beta tab in properties first and then update it to the new version. In some cases this re installs the correct files for most of the games llke hoi4 or p architect as 2 examples.

if that does not work look back over a couple pages for launcher issues and there are solutions.

i have posted one series of fixes in these discussions several times. It may be a driver or firewall issue but in my case it was the dowser.exe file tripping low level security flags. They know about it. give it an d the launcher.exe run as admin access and also set that for all users. You probably have more issues but those two changes might get you up and running.

this applies for all of the games under the launcher re the dowser.exe file located in the game directory i think.

Launched the game through Steam.
It reinstalled the launcher and all is working now.

I have a similar issue, after downlaoding a mod the game ignores my system settings and I can't select anything unless I drag the mouse almost off the screen.
