My subjects steals my conqured systems
Sandwiched between my empire and my subject there is a fallen empire that just awoke. He wanted to play big and powerful so I declared war on him, and while our fleets where pretty much equal in fleet power it was no problem to deal with him. My subject got no fleet at all but still after finishing off the awakened empires fleets I am now loosing most of my conqured system to my subject.
Why is this? I dont want my subject to take over these juicy fallen empire systems. He didn't do anything to aid the war, and also he is my puny subject that shouldn't even get any of my stuff.

What gives?

He has more claims on the territory than you did. That's why claims can be incremented, to out-bid allies on territory.

What pete said, if you seize systems militarily they go to the one in your alliance with the most claims on them (counts for allies, subjects, fed-members, they just need to be in the same war on your side).

It is a war for containment. There shouln't be any claims to make as far as I understand. But I tried to reload and make claims on the systems, but they still passed on to him. Maybe if I made claims before the war started. But I dont know. It all seems kinda wierd when I am the one that takes all the systems, and he is my subject, not allied.

Doesn't matter. In any kind of war (except humiliation? I'm not sure about that, I never declare humiliation wars), you'll get territory for which you have claims if you occupied the territory.

Yes, there's that. Make sure your economy is ready though. Intergration these days can be a tricky prospect.

I see. Would be nice then if I could make war without my subject had to join in (on paper). It just said that the systems where partly occupied by my subject after I took them. Is that because he made claims to them in the middle of the war?

cant integrat him. He is a subsidiary subject. I am a megacorp empire.

total wars seem to give the systems to whoever's territory you entered that system from. overriding this can be claims from having lost the system in the past.

Meewee do the claims still exist after the war?

whenever you lose a system you once owned to another empire you gain 10 claims on it. i've had issues in the past with a friend where i was trying to give territory to her by attacking from her space but it kept giving the systems to me even when i let the ai take them back and they weren't even connected to my space anymore. ended up having to give them to her after the war which is a system that needs an overhaul. shouldn't have to finalize giving systems before you can give the next system away, once a system is on the table you should be able to queue up more systems out from there but not be able to take the first systems placed in the trade menu back off

Is it because the subject have borders with these regions? I am pretty sure that was all the systems he got. So bordering them gives my subject a higher claim in a total war? I guess the solution could be to make claims on the subjects bordering regions before the war starts, and they should all go to me.

I have no idea. Just guessing here.

making claims before hand whould help since they should then go to whoever has more claims to the system. it always seemed like if i went from my space to neighboring space to take a system in total wars that i got them, if i entered from my friend's space then she'd get them. sometimes it just acted a bit weird though

It is possible, though I am not sure. As you can see on the screenshots it is mostly his borders, but not all of them. The AEs capital region was bordering me, and under my control until it suddently went to my subject.
