How do you get a Casus Belli to be able to claim systems and declare war then ?
How do you get a Casus Belli to be able to claim systems and declare war then?

I have a neighbor that I can easily eliminate but although he is very different from me (him = collective conscience / immortal leader, me = materialistic, egalitarian, xenophile ; democracy), but I can not get a CASUS BELLI !!!

I thought I could break a trade agreement or technology exchange to get maybe a casus belli, but I can not even break my trade agreements or technology !

How do you attack your neighbors ??? ...........

First you claim some of his systems with claim option, then you declare war with "claim systems" reason. You have to capture every outpost/starbase and ! planetes in the afore claimed systems. After done that, push his war exhaustion to a limit, where your enemy will accept peace with giving you the claimed systems.

I can not claim anything ! The list of claims is empty and the button "claim" is grey (saying something like: "Claim impossible" ...) !

You need influence points to pay for the claims.

I have enough points of influence, I have enough in reserve to claim several systems! This is not a poblem of points of influence !

Zoom in on one of their systems, on the bottom of the screen near the system name or whatever there will be like a button to the left, IIRC it's a + in a hex, I'm not sure if I'm remembering correctly (I haven't played the game in like over a week), but you click on that to make a claim on a system, and as mentioned it does cost influence.

You can cancel trade and research agreements at any time if you talk to the empire in question (unless the empire is your subject), you might need to scroll down to see the option. It will not add a casus belli or make them angry in any way, those agreement's cost influence per month so it's normal to cancel them as needed.

OK thanks, I'll see that, if it works.

Fine, it works perfectly, I could claim systems and finally declare war, thank you !

you could also just demand vassalisation and when they refuse then go to war with the goal of making them your vassal

Seriously, when you get to the claim interface but don't see all the systems light up -.-

I did not have the camera centered on the enemy territory, so I did not see anything, and I had anomalies (research anomalies by scientists) that appeared at the same time ... etc. But it's true, I could, but I did not think, it had been a long time since I had played Stellaris.
