Star Patterns/Pulsating Stars
Does this have only one outcome if you choose to investigate it? Because the few times I've tried it always causes me to lose the scientist.

There is another possible outcome, where the scientist does not die.

No it can make the star give off 8 or 9 energy that can be exploited with a station and the scientist in question becomes meticulous.

The outcome is completely based off who investigates it, if it is the same scientist who researched the anomaly then they go mad, if it a another scientist they add 8 energy production to the star.

Nah, the other scientist can go mad, too, if you send a different one to investigate. I've been known to send a lesser scientist to investigate the star, just in case... :)

The results are really random, so before the research completes, save the game. If you don't like the results, reload it and the next time it might be different.
