Inward perfection worth it?
Planning on doing a run as a tall, utopian-esque agrarian civilization, obviously Inward Perfection seems to fit perfectly, I know it used to be pretty good for tall builds pre 2.2, is it still good now?

Just know that every empire in existance will likely rival you, and then ally and try to war with you.

I mean you are going inward perfection, so you should expect this after all.

Im rolling inward perfection, having no problems. Some xenophile alien even threw money my way, i didnt even ask.

Inwards Perfection is isolationism, wanting nothing to do with the rest of the galaxy and just leaving everyone alone. Why should it be expected to go to war with others?

Naturally an IP player is going to get a huge early game advantage. So other players can and should actively try to slow your growth. The AI will rival you, ally and declare war on you since they now outnumber you. Either way its common sense to gang up on an IP player. Why would you just let them build up in peace?

The AI wont bother you if you keep your fleet up.
eldiabs Dec 19, 2018 @ 5:40pm
Orrrrrr...keep a small fleet but turtle the hell out of your starbases. They AI will usually wimp out or slam a bunch of fleets against your defense and give you free tech. At least till late game, star bases are best bang for your buck if you're playing tall and defensive.

Would Gaia preference work with a tall build? Im thinking it'd work well with the build im making for RP purposes. Would it be crippling?
Jimmy Rustler Dec 19, 2018 @ 5:59pm
The greatest part about the starbase defense tactic is that AI won't recognize how hopeless it is to fight your starbases and simply thinks because you don't have a large fleet you are weak. Like eldiabs said, easy enemy tech while you boom your economy.

Inward Perfection bonuses are very strong but it attached to a most awfull ethic- PACIFISM . Non fanatical pacifism only allows ideological wars- which do absolutly nothing for Inward Perfection empire. Inward Perfection also prevents you from having forced subjects and joining a federation. This means your interaction with the rest of the galaxy is limited to defensive wars, non agression pacts and occasional trade. You can only sit inside your little corner of the galaxy and develop economy, waiting for Crisis to come.

Unless idea is to genmod or have huge robot population, better leave it for when devs fix Gaia terraforming.

The whole point of the civic is to be an isolationist empire. The very reason it's so good is because it doesn't allow for really any kind of interaction with other empires other than trade deals. They're not in space to make friends or enemies, just there to expand and be left alone.

Can't confirm if it still work, but you used to be able to go psionic and once you'd get a chosen one you could get an event that would allow you to completly redo your empire to authoritarian. This woudl let you get out of inward perfection (sadly you'd lose the amazing tradition tree).

This way you get the carzy growth early game and can switch to expension mid/late game.

Well mostly because there is absolutely no penalty for rivaling an inward perfection empire? That alone will cause your relations to tank with everyone else that in the universe. Basically, since you don't care about them, why should they care about you? Once relations hit rock bottom, there's no reason for them to pick fights as often as they want.
