Creating a faction like the Adeptus Mechanicus
Hey guys,
Question for the community today how would you build a faction that follows the ideals similuar to those of Adeptus Mechanicus/ Skitarii. With that wierd blend of religion/technological ambition not quite sure how to tackle it.

They're Spiritualists, Authoritarian, Xenophobe with high Engineering, Strong, Enduring, Repugnant, Oligarchy, Exhaulted Priesthood and Functional Buildings.

Best fit I can find, It won't be exact.

Can't believe no-one has said this: Make sure you go materialist so you can get "Mechanist" civic. Rush "The Flesh is Weak" tradition.

Materialism has some very counter points to the Adaptus Mechanicus.

1- No AI. AI is banned in the lore of the Adeptus Mechanicus
2- They're not really materialists or to be more precise, rationalists. They're more like spiritualists that worship technology. Ain't that right Machine Spirit?

I am no expert on 40k lore but aren’t the adeptus mech guilty of experimentation with AI?
At least factions of it?

Servo skulls are basically droids.

But self thinking AI is outright banned after the Men of Iron. Servo skulls are not self thinking droids, they're very specifically programmed items of equipment, they don't have that much initiative. Hence all the super specialized variants. The ones that show "initiative" are actually linked to a specific owner which makes it look like it is anticipating the owner's command but is actually being mentally commanded.

The faction is somewhat in the middle, their goal is cybernetics but their values are spiritual. Stellaris is unable to reflect this due to their link between "materialist" and "The Flesh is Weak" when in fact they can be separated.

More like tomato potato. If you're not that well versed in the lore, try not to show off, it's obvious you're missing information.

You know what AI stands for in Warhammer 40k?
Abominable Intelligence.
They HATE the stuff.

The right word here is "guilty" ofc some of them do and when they are found out... yeaaaaa
Like with most religions they have certain way to circumvent it to a degree, 40ks version of androids / robots the servitors all have at least some organic core that was a human being once, so even if an especially enterprising magos replaced nearly all of the body with cybernetics and heavily modified the brain he used to build the thing it can still be claimed that the Intelligence in it isnt artificial since there is a real brain in it.

The same applies for the mechanicus themselves, the oldest most heavily modified of them might be organic in the single digit percentage, but there still is a "human"-core somewhere.

Not to mention taking materialist means that you cannot take the Exaulted Priesthood civic, which is a hallmark of the Mecanicus.

"Materialists" in Stellaris terms does not mean cybernetic or likes material, it plays off ingame as "rationalists", people who do not believe anything they cannot see, understand or derive. This is totally contrary to the concept of an Omnisiah, a mechanical God.

you could start out as materialist, get 'the flesh is weak' and change to be spiritualist - but to be honest this will probably a tedious process and possibly really hard

I like the choices but the inability to take the flesh is weak is....annoying.
I was thinking physicist might also be a viable choice, over strong.
