When we gettin the hivemind DLC
Because right now they're awful. Devouring swarm might get slightly better with the update but still.

Probably never.
I could see improvements to the current system but not a whole DLC dedicated to Hiveminds.

Just not enough meat on the bone
I'm not sure that Paradox has ever made DLC for a DLC, if they expand hive minds they'll probably do it via a free patch. After all they added in Devouring Swarms in a free patch so there's some precedent.

I complety forgot that they're a DLC.
Yeah makes a lot more sense making it a free update. Kinda shows now the flaw of DLC content: You cant really improve it with another DLC since that'd be... weird.

Awful? I only used to play Hive mind and AI. Hive Mind seems much more suitable for me: Because they dont need minerals for population growth:)

Hive mind is actually pretty broken right now, sure you cant work with other empires, but they can hold their own against most larger fleets. Had a fleet of 80k stand up against 5 Pret fleets of 60-70k and not lose more than 10% of the ships.

If anything Hive mind could use a good nerf.

I would expect a Hivemind upgrade (Civics, Ascensions, gameplay related stuff to the new planet/trade system) to be "free", since that is basically part of Utopia.

Bioships, portrait stuff and maybe new voice advisors might come with one of those "cosmetic" DLCs (Plantoiuds/Humanoids). I could overlook the fact that it should have been in Utopia and pay some extra for that, since Utopia was more a mixup of different stuff.
However I am rather against paying something extra for "Synth" ships, because SYNTHETIC DAWN was the DLC for that, without really adding anything besides Syth related stuff.

Huh? What kinda perks did you use. Are you sure you didnt just happen to have the right defenses?

Yeah that is a flaw, and why it's important that core features remain free.

An example of this phenomenon action would be Ascenion perks, because Paradox realized that they wanted to expand on Ascension perks in the future and that if they were behind a pay wall it would make everything harder so they made them free.

This.

Though I'd like it if bioships be a general thing that any empire can use if they get the proper civic/ascension perk, there's no real reason that only hive minds should/can use organic technology.

They already released one. It was called Synthetic Dawn, where they took the core concept of the hive mind and expanded it to the depths it should have had from the start. Except of course they made them robots, and left the organic hive minds as is.

Yes things are the same if you downplay and ignore the differences.

The gameplay of machines empires and organic hive minds is quite different, does this mean that hive minds shouldn't be improved? Of course not, machine empires are better designed and hive minds when compared to them or megacorps are looking increasingly outdated.

But to state that they already released a DLC for it and its Synthetic Dawn is just silly.

Who said anything about ignoring the differences? The differences are the entire point, that's why machine empires are more interesting to play. They actually spent the time to make them a different and unique experience. Vanilla hive minds are just a normal empire with a few features removed, like factions and happiness, with nothing added in to replace them, a few renamed civics and traits, and a locked down vanilla ascendancy path.
