Can't Figure Out How to Explore Wormholes

I have no idea if this is a bug or if there's just something I'm missing, but I can't seem to explore wormholes at all.

I have the wormhole exploration technology, so I've tried to move one of my science ships there and explore it but none of the options buttons seem to do anything (i.e. if I click on survey nothing happens). I've tried left-clicking and right-clicking on the wormhole itself in both system and galaxy view: nothing happens. Anyone have any ideas?

If it is the right tech you right click on the shi and the drop down gives you the option of explore wormhole.

If the ship has no science officer it will not work. other than that sometimes you need to wait till months end.

Or you have a bug.

is the wormhole icon red? if it's white then it's already explored. if it's red, then when right-clicking the system or wormhole with a manned science ship, you should get "Explore Natural Wormhole".
