Ideally you want a fleet strong enough to do that AND have a defensive fleet left over that's strong enough to beat a tempest fleet when supported by a defensive starbase of yours so you don't leave yourself open as you go off to save the galaxy.
Second: once you DO destroy them, you'll gain access to L-sector resources which will give you a huge boost.
They said they want to fix L Gate "good" outcome. I hope they also fix L Gate bad outcome so that it doesn't escalate to total extermination if grey tempest is released to early.
As for totally wiped out, usually there are many that survive. Just isnt pretty depending on map size.
The issue is not losing. The issue is surviving alone the mid game crisis. It means that there is nothing else interesting to do for the rest of the game.
Yeah, but then again that just means you win early, whereas just throwing in the towel is a loss. ^^
At least you get to fight a bit more instead of starting over and doing the whole claiming and building thing again.
Continue for next sentence. Usually many survive still. If you can last, so can the AI unless perhaps if on easiest difficulty.
