DLC Pre-order - do you get a Steam key?
Pretty much as the title says, I'm really considering getting the pre-order through the site, but I want to know if you get a steam key for the DLC (when it releases, obv), or if it has to go through Paradox's own launcher.

Stellais afaik only exists in Steam, so if you order on Paradox page, you will get a Steam key of course.

That said: I would not preorder yet. I would wait for the DLC to launch and pick it up then

to maybe get a discount when the other legal sellers offer it. I would assume a -10% by gamesplanet or fanatical would be the least.

Huh. I thought the only way "legal" game sellers get their hands on keys with chunky discounts is by snapping them up during an outrageous Steam sale (buy at 80 % discount, sell at 40 to 50 % discount after the sale ends = profit) or by buying them in bulk from software stores that go out of business.
Maybe a few copies by buying keys from people that got gifts they didn't think they'd enjoy or bought humble bundles containing keys they didn't want.

I fail to see how a legal key seller would get their hand on a version that's more discounted than Paradox offers when there's no such means for them to get their hands on it? After all it isn't even out yet and 10 % for pre-ordering is the lowest it has gone down so far.

Not knocking it, genuinely curious.

I don't know how they make their key sales. i just know they happen. Might also be "good timing" with it. For example: Humanoid Species pack was "preorder" by Pardaox and launch at Steam for 7,99€.
Some hours after launch as the legal retailers picked it also up you could already get -10% by Fanatical and some others. My winner was 2game.com, who had also on top of the first percents a active xmas voucher at that time which made a total -20%.

Of course in case of Apocalypse there might be no active xmas voucher to sneak in, not even a Valentines day one, but I would guess the usual 10% should be up by the usual suspects. And that will already cut the price for 2€ (aka two t1 humble bundles). Maybe with some luck there still might be a better oppurtunity with a voucher or some other shennaningan around. We see in 21 days ;)

Aw man. I really wanted to find out. My only other guess would be having people buy the DLC in countries where digital goods are usually cheaper and then selling them at a discount in countries where the costs are usually much higher during non-discounted times. >_<
