Gateway activation

Around when are you suppose to get it? I've encountered a disabled gateway, but i don't have the activation tech yet. I'm 200 years in, and i've just conquered one that was activated by a enemy empire. Is it normal that it's taking so long? I would like to connect the 2 gateways.

i think depending on which patch you are on you need the popup about a gateway to come up before you can get the research and that it might be bugged otherwise. might also need hyperdrive 2 i think before it can show up(i think that's the wormhole requirement)

You need to have had the popup for finding a gateway and you need to have researched Hyperdrive 3.
Also make sure your scientist in Physics has either the particle expert, curator, maniacal or spark of genius trait, otherwise the chance for it to come up is greatly reduced.

Ok. I don't have Hyperdrive 3, so that might be it in relation to the lack of the research option. I am using a curator researcher for Physics.

I have found out that i can't use my activated gateway. This must be a bug, correct? I have had the event, i believe. I think the tutorial bot even mentioned it. Perhaps the bug is that i need to have the reactivation tech to use the already activated gateway.

If you want to maximize the chance for the tech to come up then put a particles expert there. Adopting a discovery tradition also helps.

The main thing is you not having researched hyperdrive 3 as that's a hard requirement. You also need to have either had the popup about finding a gateway, or have a neighbor who knows the activation technology already. So even if you never find a gate you can still get it once the AI starts researching it. It's 4x as likely if you have a gateway in your owned systems, 25% more likely if you have the discovery tradition, and 25% more likely if your scientist is a particle specialist. If your scientist doesn't have one of either particle specialist, maniacal, genius, or curator then the chance is divided by 10.

Holy f***ing **** mate!! I JUST researched hyperdrive 3 and told myself "Wouldn't it be great if the first thing that poped up was gateway activation?"
Guess what was the first tech to appear? Yep, gateway activation.
