Even 2x tend to generate notable amount of systems with 2-3 habitable planets. It's a bit too much for me (pure IMHO and it's too fantastic even for space opera).
What will happen on 5x I don't even want to imagine :)
I would think that maybe it was the game being confused by the fact that I also have primitives all the way up, but most of them don’t have any on them... Which itself is kind of weird considering.
One or two battles results in instant war exhaustion/status quo then a forced 10 year truce. Since it's just me versus them now, I am in a truce with the whole galaxy. So I sit there for 10 years while all 5 empires they rebuild their fleets to >1M fleet power. Then we do the whole thing again.
It's virtually a stalemate. I can usually net several systems out of it but it's quite dull and a very poor war system in my opinion. Not at all what I was looking for in a strategy game.
I find that on 1000+ (mods) that you never get to interact like AI across the map till way later in the game.
Time to move on beta patch ;)
But that was tedious and slow due to forced 10 year truces. I finally beat it down after re-fitting my battleships to the tachyon lance/neutron launcher/kinetic artillery build.
