What's the meaning of white or red megastructure icons?

I found the cybrex system with their ringworld in this playthrough, and for some reason 3/4 of the ring icons are white, but the other is red. The description sheds no light at all on what the difference might be. They all require the same tech and resources to fix, they're all 'owned by' my empire since I claimed the system.

Is this a visual glitch or what?

I'm guessing it's a glitch. Red is supposed to mean you can't use/restore something, but haven't noticed it on disabled Megastructures other than Gates now that I think about it.

I think with gates it's red until you restore it whether you can or not... but I haven't got the tech yet in this game. In which case I guess all four of these should be red.

But I can't honestly say I've seen that system applied to other megastructures before now. Maybe it's meant to be and just isn't working...

guessing glitch but when I noticed it first thought it had to do with if i had energy to pay the maintenance. maybe just bug tho

um, i kinda got my science nexus with a black and red megastructure symbol... should i be worried?

As far as I can tell it's meaningless, you can restore something when you have the tech whatever colour its icon was.

Red megastructures don't work for you.

Most important: you cannot use a gateway until you fully conquer the starsystem.
