Hmm so that has different outcomes aswell?
Mine basically were the krogans, but instead of genophage a time loop, they were violent race who were forced into a time loop due to being violent, basically they were stuck till they learned to stop being violent then the loop would stop, me ending the loop early let them free and destroyed what remained of the shield and then instantly became fanatical purifiers with a 5k citadel but pathetic technology/fleets etc, kinda funny as they were the gecko portraits XD the least threatening lizards
Are you experiencing your own time loop? "I picked end the time loop..." "I also picked end the time loop by reloading a save..."
My mistake, meant picked repair the shield* after I reloaded.
EDIT: Time paradox amended
I am pretty sure they are always the geckos, because mine were geckos as well. I guess it's meant to be a joke or something xD
It's always either the Geckoes or Starfish molluscoids. That's why you can't trust Xenoes.
I've had those starfish as devouring swarm, i couldn't stop laughing each time they threatened me, just that slight smile and that noise they make XD
The reptile civ revealed was made up of horrible but cute little xenophobes that were super mad at me for ending the loop, because (reasons).
A possible bug, or the result of flavour text I missed: when the loop ended the outpost in the system was somehow also immediately promoted to a citadel with no buildings or modules. Free real estate! (I'd go back and see what happened there, but it's an ironman game.)
Anyway, because I owned a starbase* in the system the planet quickly came under my authority, destroying and absorbing their civ almost instantly. This also gave me the "A Home Away From Home" achievement.
* I assume anything better than an outpost, but maybe even just having an outpost leads to this outcome.
