Can I Take Systems from Vassals?
*Without* integrating them? I want to go all Imminent Domain on them, but I don't seem to be able to do so.

I have a very small vassal who only has three systems and one planet. The two non-planet systems are strategically important to me, so I want to take them but I don't want to lose the vassal (because Vassal Aculturation).

The only way I can see to /maybe/ accomplish the same effect, is to release the subject, wait 10 years, claim the systems, go to war, take the systems, go for the status quo, and then hope they'll still consent to be your vassal.

That's a hell of a lot of work (well, /waiting/; that 10 year truce after release is dumb) for something that should just be an option to an overlord. Am I just overlooking something? And yes, I tried "Trading" and they have no interest in trading away any of their systems (I'm not even sure why this option is in-game; no one (at least the AI; I never play against people) is ever actaully willing to trade systems.

You can integrate, and then release the vassal as a one planet nation if you choose. To release a nation, just click on any planet you own - release vassal in lower left hand corner. With 3 systems, integration should be a matter of months. That's what I'd recommend.

I'd add too - this is the perfect way to install a vassal government that has your government ethics (if that is desirable).
