complete noob: in-game tutorial?
Hi, I was wondering if in-game tutorial is available for this game? i've been poking around with the UI with "Tutorial" option turned on but it seems that they only explain in general terms about each stuff that i clicked i.e. research ship what is it for etc.

Is there a comprehensive tutorial mode the one that is akin to EU IV in-game (tutorial mission where we can actually practice after the AI explains stuff)?
Of course I could always watch youtube videos for these but i'm not really fond of the idea of switching back and forth between videos and the game windows. Help would be appreciated!

There are a lot of things the tutorial AI doesnt explain so just throwing yourself into the game might be the best. For such a tutorial run you should seed one fallen empire and no other Ai empire and no crisis. After that just play a normal game.
A few tips for playing against AI empires:
-AI doesn't expnad through you so you can efficiently cut them off of major expansion
opportunities
-get up multiple sience ships ASAP. systems surveyed by AI's dont yield anomalies
-focus on economy at the beginning. as long as there isnt a genocidal empire on your doorstep most empires wont attack you even if superior early game (and im talking aggresiveness high games here )
-focus on missile/torp corvettes early game they stay top tier throughout the game
-strikecraft is useless cause bugged atm
-discovery traditions first
-dont play repugnant hive mids if you are still learning(or repugnant at all) cause you get major diplo penalties, try charismatic for your first run
-if you dont feel safe look for allies. rivals of rivals are a good starting point. gift them strategic resources(if you have them) or just resources if they are still unwilling

thats about all i can think about right now if you still have somthing you dont understand just open a topic on this forum there are lots of helpful guys around here

youtube or finding someone to teach you are your best bet. paradox isn't the greatest at making tutorials

>keep resource numbers green
>research tech
>build bigger, meaner ships
>kill aliens

There you go. You're officially tutored in Stellaris. Go forth and conquer!

I'm kinda in the same bind. I got as far as Galaxy Map and didn't know what to do. They're ingame wiki is useless. After much reseach I discovered it's simply press "M". The keybinding for the main map!
Now, I'm having trouble searching/researching derelict ships.

It's the basic mechanics of the game I need help with. The YouTube videos seem to have a different interface. I could really use something for the most recent update. And I'm playing the basic game. No sense in spending a lot of money on a game I don't like or can't play, so I usually start off vanillia.

When you first startup the game there is a friendly robot guy that teaches you everything from the top right of the screen.

The ingame tutoprial is imho insufficient. I still had to ask other people tons because it doesn't tell you really important stuff such as that having a full food storage AND a food plus is a good thing. Or that Jump drives cripple your fleet.

the tutorial only really covers the bare basics.

As others have said, and from my noob experience, the tutorial doesn't teach you much, it's very lacking ...
Playing the game and failing/succeeding seem the best way.

And... if you're as unobservant as I... make sure that you're not picking a race with a "Tutorial Disqualifying" trait (the robotic races with Gestalt from what I can tell).

Couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong...
So sorry for this game, but impossible to start playing w/o in-game tutorial :(
However, I think it is a lot of fun to play when you know what to do, I was really fond of Ascendacy, and it really feels very much alike!
