Sick of Hegemonic Imperialists being so common in every game/federation issues.
I tried playing a federation builder type, my two nearest neighbors were xenophobic isolationists. Who refused opening borders even when one had nearly 100 opinion with cordial attitude.

Rest of the galaxy was mostly, of course, Hegemonic Imperialists who are nearly impossible to get migration treaties/federations with ( not that you would want to, seeing as they would want to start a war every other week)

The only AI type that was even midly receptive to diplomacy was the lone erudie explorers. Even they don't want to form a federation because I prefer Liberation wars. I really wanted to have a peaceful playthrough but guess I'll have to start knocking some heads with ideology CB if I ever hope to have a federation victory.

Really wish there were more AI personalities or at least less chance of the more annoying ones like Hegemonic Imperialists and Xenophobic types.

I dont always get Hegemonic Imperialists.

My games are often full of evangalists or purifyers. Almost seems like what ever I go with the game roles the oposit most often for the AI... But I think thats just coincidence.

I had a game a while back that was full of erodite explorers, which happend to match my own ethos for that game. First time in a long while that happend.

I would not be surprised if that happened. It always seems whatever I choose to roleplay as, the rest of the galaxy are directly opposing ethos.

Would be nice if these Hegemonic Imperialists had less chance to spawn:

So there's a little used or talked about feature in the game regarding player made empires. You can tailor create a variety of empires and then set them to force spawn in your games.

If you're looking for more variety than the random generator is creating, I suggest going that route. It takes away a little of the exploration aspect of things, but at least you will know your game won't be all of one type of empire.

That is exactly what I was planning on doing. Especially considering how often the ai spawn with terrible empires civic/trait wise or with empires with the same flag, or same looking species than I. All quite annoying things.

I have a friend who cheets using this. He purposefully creates empires with traits designed to fail, then forces them to spawn. Seems like too much work to me.

I made a few of my favorites to always spawn too.

You could always modify the base game to adjust the empires that get spawned.

https://stellaris.paradoxwikis.com/AI_personalities
Changing 00_personalities.txt line 597 and adjusting the weight of the from 5 to 1 might even it out and pick something else, but they are kind of a catch-all.

Or you can modify the file and never have them either or totally change their personality.

yeah, certain personalities are more common even if the ethics are relatively spread out or equal.

You always spawn next to an empire thats opposite of you in this game, which is silly. Every game no matter what government I take, the total opposite will be only a few jumps away.

At first I thought it might be comfirmation bias but being a guy that restarts SO often, I started noticing that it has to have an impact of some sort.

I suspect this will prevent ironman tho. I do enjoy unlocking them achievements when possible.

I decided to turn galactic peace keeper this game, guaranteeing almost everyone except the worst types such as slaver despots and determined exterminators.

I saw about it but it doesnt seem to be updated to the newest patch + probly doesn't work with ironman.

Does anybody know what happens to the machine pops if I conquer this determined exterminator's planets with the containment CB?

Be wary though I did this once and got owned by my own creation, teach me to min max my empires :)

Ty, two organic empires declared war on the exterminators but theyre getting their butts kicked so I need to intervene. Guess guaranteeing independence doesnt protect them from their own stupidity.
