Not Able to Build Starbase In Certain Systems

I've encountered a bug (I think?) where in systems that are considered a Class M Red Giant no star or anything appears and I cannot build an outpost or starbase there. Has anyone else encountered this too?

have you tried from the galazy view and right click build starbase button. If the said star is too big the game bugs out when trying to build outpost when in system view.

When I try to right click the option to build a starbase isn't even there. It gives me the option to build mines/research outposts but then tells me I can't because I haven't claimed the system (which I can't do because I can't build a starbase in it).

I'm having the same issue I had to covert a molten planet into a m star and I thought it was a isolated glitch turns out I found another Class M system and again I'm without a star in it.

I'm having a similar issue, except what I'm finding is that there is a star orbiting a gaia world. Literally the star is orbiting the planet. It won't let me build a starbase because it says 'can only be built around stars' anyone have any ideas on that?

I'm having similar issues with missing stars in systems. Star shows in Galactic map but there is no starbase option in the contextual menu. Zooming in to local view reveals a system with several orbit tracks but no star at the center.

Kinda brings my expansion plans to a grinding halt.

had that too...red giant system. But no star visible and no option to build a starbase...

I can confirm I'm also having this problem. I've checked and it doesn't seem like a mod that I have would cause this. Maybe it's a vanilla bug that will be fixed? I hope so.

Maybe Paradox will remove starbases so this won't be a problem anymore.

I just got to about year fifteen and none of the right-click on a star menus work anymore.
Can't right click to build new starbase with construction ships.
Can't right click to survey systems with Science ships.

Clicking survey and then a star got the ship to start moving at the star, but I think it is just moving there.

Clicking build starbase and then a star did nothing.

Right clicking in owned space with untapped resources is not bringing up "build mining base" either.

Check that it's fully surveyed.

I've had that in my current game where for some reason the system isn't fully surveyed. Sending a science ship to complete the survey sorts it.

If it happens again in my current game I'll log it in the bug reports forum along with the save because it does seem strange.

Make sure you don't have outdated mods (for previous versions). The one causing a problem for me was a mod that reworked the look of planetary tiles that hadn't been updated.

Sorry to Necro but I just had this same problem and this thread pops up as one of the first on my google search so may as well help out. It turns out the issue for me was that the star system was already taken by another empire, so I just had to research the 'zeta aliens' or whatever in my situation log and it revealed their empire. Anyways, it's time for my devouring butterflies to feast...
