Changing Purge option without switching to Undesirable?
As it says.

Wanting to make a playthrough where I can keep a fine track on the number of Serviles (from Syncratic Evolution) in my empire using selective purging. I was planning to use Forced Labour to maximise their output.

Though it seems you can only change the Purge type when they are set as Undesirables. Otherwise, the Purge option is set at Displacement.

So would I have to swap to Undesirables for 10 years just to change the option? Or should I just accept I'll have a few less efficient power plants?

I guess maybe the option is set to Displacement to prevent folks from exploiting by selectively purging and then cancelling it? Otherwise you'd have 24 years of selective purging of Forced Labour, only to turn it off then on again right away for another 24 years.

The Purge type determines how species with the Undesirables Citizenship are purged. This only applies to entire species - pops purged individually are always exterminated.

Can't you enforce breeding controls? Can't remember if they were eligible for that

I can. But that's 10 years of no population expansion. I normally use Robots for my mines and farms but I'm wanting to try something different.

Since you can precisely control the population of Robots, I was thinking to use selective purging on my slaves, using Forced Labour to get the most out of them.

I may just have to accept having less functional power plants (planning Xenophobe, Materialist, Authoritarian).

Ok, thank you. I guess that's to prevent using selective purging of Forced Labour/Processing to maximise resource output.
