Fallen empire wormhole problem
Ok so I discovered a wormhole with a planet in the same system. Colonized the planet and a few years later found a fallen empire with the other end of the gateway in their system. They insist that I am on their front door since I'm one jump away despite the wormhole being inactive. If I agree with them nothing happens to the system and the they come back demanding the same thing the next month. I am too weak to go to war with them at this point and I can't figure out how to abandon the world nor can I give it to anyone else in the game. Any suggestions?

Well if you close your borders they cant jump through the wormhole unless they declare war other than that i dont think there is anythimg you can do other then getting a citadel in the wormhole system and hope it can take the fallen empire invasion

The wormhole isn't active on myside so its not showing them as being next to me. I don't have an option to close the boarders. I will try to resettle my populaiton.

become their vassal. Then after you have gotten their tech stuff and you have gotten larger rebel - throw off the shackles.

not an option

the wormhole is active, it's just you aren't able to use it. so for you sure, they're halfway across the galaxy. for them you're right next door and their perception of the situation is what matters.

now if it's a gateway(you've used both terms in your original post) then yeah, it shouldn't be causing issues because it's inactive in your empire.

also, you should be able to close borders, unless you're a xenophobe, then the start closed

in terms of wormholes regardless if they are active or not it makes you their neighbour, thus the fallen empire sends you their demands. as for "abandoning planets" it might be possible if you can resettle every colonist to another planet. I know that way works with mods tho I dont remember what mods lets you do that if you play vanilla and it doesnt work then I am affraid I wont be much help.

I don't think you can close yours borders to a FE. Let them attack and then you should be able to sue for peace and become their vassal. There are older threads about this idea. Though I would never use it.

Jie your recommendation worked. Thank you.

Also thank you too everyone else who offered suggestions. Stellaris is a great game largely in part to the community that assists when issues like this come up.

Ye the only real option to not go to war would be resettle everyone there.
