Do you prioritize Engineering, Physics or Society research?
Personally, I like Engineering most, due to larger ships and starbase upgrades.

Followed by Society due to fleet / command upgrades, planet development options and growth bonuses / habitability bonuses.

Physics for my energy weapons.

I think society are better for infrastructure, and you tend to get lots of eng and phys research from anomolies and battle salvage

Engineering to get Habitats

society initially for techs like farms/growthrate/gene clinic, then mostly eingineering.

physics is probably the tech branch i most often prioritize techs even if they take 50+ months though. zero point power unlocks so many things so i tend to beeline reactors.

It also depends what you play as. Bio ascending empires need society and mechanic ascending ones need engineering. Plus you get a lot of physics from science stations over black holes etc.

depends on the species and the worlds i have. otherwise i pretty much improve them all as i can.

this is why i like to stick my ancorages over black holes so i can get the observatory too.

If I had to pick I favor engineering because it allows me to industrialize faster.

Yes, I forgot to mention that. Mineral economy is at least as important as research.

Are the tech's highlighted in Gold necessary to unlock other useful / high tier techs? Why do they remain in your tech list?

Those are techs that for one reason or another are permanently available.

I do the same thing Meewac, every blackhole in my borders gets an anchorage with a blackhole research upgrade built as soon as it's unlocked, sometimes I think I might be going overboard with this.

Aemon - How did you get such high research bonuses for your scientists? Is this something that is possible only in the late game, or is this only possible with machine races?

For my hive mind race, I'm only getting +10-20% per scientist.

Spark of genius +10% speed, plus civic I assume for the engineering research, nothing special.
cbdeakin Apr 6, 2018 @ 2:23pm
Is there anything significant I can do with a Hivemind race to improve scientist research bonus, without starting again?

EDIT - I suppose I'll have to wait for more gene mods.

looks like he's got spark of genius for 10% and then his levels give them 8-10% plus i think it puts your perks and techs into that percentage shown too
