Does there need to be an unobstructed normal hyperlane path for gatways to work? If not then l the name of the other gateway is greyed {thay all are} out so I cant pick one ? Why does is not work?Thx

The Gateway you want to travel to needs to be A) operational (reacitvated or newly built) and B) the owner must have his borders open to you (so no closed borders or war)

Thx,I just built them and they are both in my borders. However, the hyperlanes don`t go through to the other side,my empire is split..Not sure if that matters.

It shouldn't matter as long as they're both active. Did you finish building them or just build the base for them?

Gateways and Wormholes are point to point, they do not use lanes at all.

Did you find a naturally unactivated gateway?

I built them. It was a 2 part affair. When I right click on either of them I shoot to a place across the map. Whe I try to travel I get a list i places to go greyed out and when I right click on that I ger a drop down that says "This gateway has never been encountered" I built them.

Again, did you ever find an unactivated one before building yours....?

No hmmm Would it be in my space?

It doesn't have to, but there's a problem with gateways (intentional or not) in that you can't use them unless you found a naturally spawned one.

Well is the one across the map that it shoots to when I click on them the one I have to find? If so I built these for nothing.

Gateways link to every activated gateway that is in neutral or allied territory (anything other than closed borders) if you right click on your destination the game should automatically calculate the fastest route taking gateways into account. Can you not travel between your two gateways?

sounds like you're clicking on a natural wormhole.
Elitewrecker PT Apr 7, 2018 @ 8:35pm
Seems more like a wormhole he's clicking yes.

I am clicking on gateways I built from scratch.

No Just a greyed out menu. The menu has choices, one of them to my other gateways system, I am seeng from the responses I have to find an unactivated one before I build. The answer is no. I dont see any in my territory.

Well, go to systems with red gateway icons and hope for an event.
By the way, don't right click gateways, it's a waste of time. Just right-click to your destination (if necessary, right-click a system with an activated gateway first).
