Transcendence bug?
Tl;dr: somehow managed to make subspecies from my starting race separate species; when choosing transcendence, only the subspecies got the psionic trait
I've found something quite infuriating while taking the transcendence ascension path. Before that, I had modified my main species into two others, for colonization purposes. For some reason, several "empty templates" were created in the process, while the modified species had their own distinct section, as if they were a separate species. Not bothered by this, I simply removed the empty ones. This was after taking the first psionic perk.
When I chose transcendence, however, only the subspecies - now represented as species of their own - got the traits, as I created one from the other, but now the majority of my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ population, still latent psionic.
I don't know how the hell I did this, but if you read this and want to avoid a huge load of salt, I advise you to be very carfeul when modding your species. Now I hope I'll get the awakening event for my starting speceis soon. I hope.

Transcendence doesn't work well with the genetic modification system. The best workaround I've found is to delay doing any genetic modifications to my species until after they have transcended. The same goes for any other species that I plan to grant psionics to.
