I've come to realise that it doesn't really matter that I haven't won yet, because they can't reinforce so I can happily just leave them alone, and I'm getting plenty of resources from all the occupation, so I may as well just carry on as if it's over and finish it off when I can.
if the former you could make claims and then once it ends release all the stuff you took as a vassal.
well, each game has it's own team working on it. maybe put it up as a suggestion on the paradox forum for the game
There is some murmuring that diplomacy is the next part of the game getting an (long overdue) overhaul, so maybe we can hope that they adress that there.
Actually "Status Quo" means that both sides keep everything the have a claim on AND under military control.
If you actually don't have claims on his systems, ofc that means that you would get nothing.
