2.0.2 No vassalisation or tributary possible as an Assimulator?

I had the casus beli notification from them refusing. But all I can use against them is the assimulation total war goal. Which pretty much makes the Domination tree pointless for me. Have I missed a trick with this, or am I sol for this run through? Was hoping to vassalise a few empires to have enough fleet to stand up to alliances. Without being able to do that, I'm stuffed on insane ;)

You're a driven assimilator. You are very enthusiastic about assimilating people. The hint is in the name. Think of your neighbors like your civs favorite food. Would you make a client state out of a herd of sheep? I know I wouldn't. Go forth and assimilate. (And yes the Domination tree will be completely useless to you besides the ascension perk)

Could have swore I had tributaries and vassals as an Assimulator before. Gave them another spin with the expansion and beta patch. Was I mistaken in recalling that, or they've changed it?

The 2.0 diplomacy has been gutted to the bare bones (i suspect in preparation for a future overhaul) so it wouldn't surprise me to hear that they removed the option for driven assimilators and fanatic purifiers and those kinds of civs.

This problem is caused by a bug which is intended to be fixed in 2.02:

I'm playing on 2.0.2 :( Looks like it isn't fixed, or over looked perhaps. But thanks for the link.

I hope that's an oversight that gets corrected. I guess they could have decided that DAs can't vassalize organics, but at the very least it should be possible with other machine empires. If they plan to make all vassalization impossible then they need to replace the tree with something else for DAs.
