dyson sphere being built next to the star, not around it
https://i.imgur.com/UjjNC48.jpg

So I got this weird situation pictured in the ss, where the Dyson sphere is actually being built next to the star. I'm pretty sure it's a bug because you can actually see the animation of light pouring through the holes in the structure and it's still producing energy. Anyone else encounter this?

Very impressive, not only do they build a cage around a star to tap its unlimited energy potential, they also build the star too.
I certainly didn't think about it this way. Wouldn't it be easier to start with the star, though? I'd imagine it's kinda hard to get all the hydrogen you need inside the closed sphere...

Maybe they found a way to extract energy from a vacuum and just didn't tell you :P
Actually that tech is in the game, it's called zero point energy. It makes dyson spheres kind of redundant, but shh, it's just a game

They had ONE job!

It's a binary system.

Edit: Should have gone to Specsavers. :D

I've seen that posted on reddit quite a lot time since 3.0 release and it's always mentioned that this is due to a stars mining station. So to avoid this bug you need to get rid of the stars mining station first.

Sorry I meant 2.0. I mixed it up with the 3.0 update from Elite Dangerous :P

They should have this as an official potential event.

"Interesting, our Engineers have found what seems to be an incomplete Dyson Sphere. We could finish it with our technology, but our scientist are recommending against it. Since it seems the Aliens built the Dyson Sphere adjacent to the Star instead of encompassing. We are starting to understand why these Aliens may have gone extinct."

That is some extreme engineering right there!

Looks like they are tapping into zero point energy. Clever.
