I need a Casus Belli? But I'm the God-Emperor...
I want to declare an open-ended war of humiliation on my neighbor. I am the God King, I feel slighted, but I can't because I don't meet a specific requirement. Yet my actual in-game title is "God." I'm ruling over an Authoritarian, Xenophobic, Spiritualist Empire...why the heck do I need to cut through red tape to send off a Crusade?!?!?!

Um, okay...so who, exactly, is telling me I need these things before I can declare war on my neighbors? I'm literally ruling as a God, yet some beuracrat is standing over my shoulder tutting "No, no, no, you can't do that," and I, as God King, am listening???

Who is this invisible force that has managed to cuck-block God from his righteous Crusade via red tape??

Does no one at Paradox see what's wrong with this picture???

There's no reason to completely break immersion on specific empire types.

With 2.0 patch, Stellaris is no longer a RP game.
Don't waste your time to personalize your civ now.

Hive mind / fanatic purifiers / alien with no souls scare you? Not a problem now, just wreck a few of them, and they will cry, go back to their mom, and begging "AUTO PEACE AUTO PEACE PLEAAAAAASE"

Even self-styled God Emperors need to justify their actions to their minions. You can call yourself a God and act like one but unless you can convince others that you really are an all-powerful being, you're going to get hauled off to the nearest loony bin tout de suite.

I'm from a planet called 'Earth,' and on this planet we've had the grave misfortune of suffering through many 'Dictatorships' and 'Absolutel Monarchies,' in these systems all power is centralized at the top, and leader's essentially rule at whim.
Who decided that the God-Emporer of Man needs to get through red tape to purge xeno scum you ask? An even greater and more nonsensical god by the name of Paradox.

There are interesting books about that thematic. Even absolute monarchs and dictators have to influence different classes in their state. Military, clerics, trader, bourgeoisie, powerful rich people, the poor masses, the men, the women, religious people. Even the most powerful ruler Stalin or Mao had to make concessions to the masses. Military gets better treatment etc.

The french king was killed because he though he can do what he want to. Loosing several wars after another, hungry peasants, angry nobles, angry clergy, angry citizens and he got executed.

I know where you come from. I like 1.91 better then 2.0 for roleplaying reasons. For me some things do not make sense. complete alien nations that obey the same rules all the time without evolutionary background or same heritage.

War score mechanics that limit the way you can wage wars.

Influence is so important now, the civs that can have huge influence gains are superior to all other civs.

Technology is now even less important.

Deathstacks are still in the game, you just divide your one big fleet into 3.

Battles are still nontactical. Many things have improved though.

Fleet limits make end game crisis very difficult.

forced laning .... makes some positions in the early game completely unwinnable, was not that of a problem before 2.0. Like when a super space monster spawns in your only connection system to the galaxy.

Etc. Feels not like the fun space adventure before 2.0 but a very limited board game with strict rules. Not fun for me. That is only my opinion.

Have fun.

Animosity is a war-goal.

The god-emperor doesnt even know about that?
But you can't rivale someone not directly near your border, right?

So many mods to fix so many ♥♥♥♥♥♥ oversights by Paradox..

I don't want to play a restricted game

You don't vote for Gods.

Well, how did you become God, then?
People make you god. You need worshippers and power to kill all naysayers.

Stalin made concessions? Did you miss the part about the Great Purge where he gutted the government of anyone one so much as looked at him wrong? Mao made concessions? He went on Great Purges of his own, repeatedly, and his tenure resulted in the deaths of between 20 and 46 million people.

The problem In Game is this...there is no mechanic for me to 'Purge' the beurocrat telling me I need a Casus Belli. I'm a Dictator/God Emperor/King devoid of any ability to 'enforce' my will. The Invisible Hand is telling me 'No' and so it's 'No.'

Previously, it wasn't like this, and it made more sense. Democratics/Egalitarians needing a Casus Belli? Yes, of course. God Emperors and Devouring Swarms? That doesn't make sense, we're supposed to be the Stalins/Maos of Stellaris.

I'm aware of that myself as I happen to come from Earth too (and it isn't flat). And while it's regrettable that some of those monsters got to die in their beds of old age, who really cares because that's not the point I was making. You know, those other paragraphs you omitted about how it's just a game and in this game, you need a CB to justify a war, right? :)
Stalin had to make concessions to his own people, that made him powerful. When he had a heart failure in his office, his own body guards and the higher echolon in his power structure did not help him. Because they knew he would just kill many people in his inner circle for his body condition. Searching for traitors everywhere. So Stalin died without getting help from his most trusted friends.

Yes i aggree that some alien life forms have no use for cassus beli. Like devourer or robot exterminator. Exterminator races have one clear war goal. Exterminate of biological life forms. Devourer have one clear goal. Conquer as many worlds as possible. They do not make peace, they dont need war goals.

But a game needs rules.

It was also 'just a game' when Devourers got to Devour, and God-Emperors got to declare Crusades.

Now that role play has been stripped away because "reasons."

Stalin killed so many government officials, that by the end of his tenure he was mockingly called "The Hermit" by exiled opposition.

Also, it's too bad some of those "concessions to his people" didn't include some food to ward off the famines that were, in part, caused by the generations of experience he 'Purged' from the agricultural ministries.

Yeah that's why the rule is not about the change because they are cleary poorely made, cf the auto peace who is aout to be reworked
The response to just cheese the game by building a border is f*cking typical fan boy ♥♥♥♥♥. It is not immersive or fun to cheese so you can god emperor or hivemind, then when you do work around the system, the war system castrates you with a bullsh*t clock. The Imperium of man has been at war for 10,000 years with no casus belli other than 'purge the alien' and the mention of war exhaustion is weak heresy in need of a good purging too.

Stellaris 2.0 is broken and needs to be rolled back some. Until then its back to 1.9 for the god emperors and hive minds.
So I made a ravenous hivemind race that is incapable of reason with other races (in-game mechanics-wise. I barely consider RP reasoning), started a new game in a tiny galaxy because I wanted to experience some actual combat after nearly 20 hours of pure expansion and diplomacy with my real races.

I can't attack anything unless I expand my borders to touch theirs and declare a claim on them, even though their freaking ships are flying all over my stars with a negative 1200 opinion of me.

What. Is. This. Game.
