should i go AI empire (the synth. dawn species) or hive minded? or maybe a democracy?

trial and error. understand that you probably wont win your first few games. have a look down the premade factions and use them to learn.

i'd say start with either one of the pre-generated races or make your own non-robot non-purifyer species to get the hang of the base game without everyone hating you or the extra mineral needs.

try to decide what you want your race to be focused on and take civics that support that.

as for what resources to focus on, minerals are very important early game, research is always important but don't be surprised if you fall behind while expanding, energy you want to keep positive but not worry too much till your economy gets going, unity is always important for traditions

In a way ofc you need to balance, the biggest concern at start is minerals though because you need them to build up the rest of your economy. Its also a good idea to build a unity-building right away, to get traditions quickly.

Ethics and Civics are really dependant on playstyle, for a new player the mining-guilds (+10% mineral-production) are usually a good pick that is never wasted in early game.

Building up your empire at start there are some easy rules that help:

1. don't queue up more then one building on a planet since its paid for the moment you queue it you bind up minerals that don't produce anything. So start the next project when the actual one is done.
2. don't build buildings you don't have the pops to run, all they do is sit there and cost upkeep. I usually build a new building for the pop thats just growing.
3. dont clean tileblockers until the blocked tile is actually needed or it would hamper population-growth.
4. Prioritize your mining-stations, always build the ones with the most income first.
5. Priority in the starting game is: MINERALS, enough energy to keep a slight surplus then science.
6. in research, prioritize the techs that strengthen your economy: better buildings, production boni, starbase-modules that generate ressources (trading company is kinda important)

I read in many threads that people "focus" there production... but why?
You need all of them...
Research to get new techs and tech advantage obviously.
Minerals to build your economy, ships and starbases... and to maintenance them...
And obviously you need energy to pay for all of that.

The only "focusing"-thing i do is to go allways the way of unity... build on every planet every unity building that i can get. And if i use a planet tail that has ressources... ok.

the private economy ship has me confused, some people say its good and some say it's ♥♥♥♥ because it gives you more factions, what does the thing do?

unity isn't really something you can focus on early game. it's pretty much a binary choice - either you build the one and only unity building, or you don't.

as the game progresses, you get a few extra unity buildings from tech/traditions, so it becomes more of a choice whether to build all of them or skip some (gene clinic, visitor center, paradise dome, energy nexus, art monuments from artist enclave)

I Have a few more... i played allmost never vanilla. But with good balanced mods. Balances because the AI get all this stuff to... :D
So yeah... i can make a "whoule unity world" if i want.

Private Economy Ship? Do you mean the private colony ship?
The changes = you pay with energy and not with minerals AND the pop that you send to colonize have a higher chance to get another ethic than yout goverment ethic... and of courese the whoule planet will get this ethic to.

if i would allow purges, would to be possible to purge the guy that came from the -private -colony ship (without too harsh of a penalty) and send a pop from my home world and than get the "normal" ethics?

Your best bet is to play the human empire, and dive right in, and be prepared to fail a few times. There is so much complexity and depth to Stellaris that it's full of "A-Ha!" moments, even if "A-Ha!" means getting pummeled because you went a wrong direction.

That said, it's best to play according to your species' bonuses coupled with what your galactic situation is. Sometimes you get dealt what feels like a crap hand in terms of neighbor hostility and resource availability, but if you really get down to the details of things such as citizen happiness, government, and economy, you can often adapt to your situation and overcome it.

Plan to restart at least twice after learning a catastrophic mistake. And don't be afraid to click the wiki button in the game (the question mark in the lower right corner) and look EVERYTHING up because the in-game tutorials are pretty awful.

I think you should send the new guy before... maybe make a prison planet for this scum that critisice your goverment. :D

Because i think now a planet without a pop is automaticly a "non colonized one" and lost for you. But i am not sure about that. ...

that would remove the colony if you purged first(plus i don't know if you can purge an individual population again). however, if you allow slavery you can put anyone in a faction/ethic you don't like as a slave which will eliminate them from causing any non-slavery problems.
