If you try and reinforce before upgrading, it will attempt to just build a full fleet of the new designs.
Yep this is what I found as well, so I just use my own designs and it works fine
I even reinforced one fleet first, then updated design. Updated one fleet and reinforce thru manager. Updated anotehr then reinforce by spaceyard/spaceport... all with the same effect
Also, ALWAYS upgrade your ships BEFORE adding more to your fleet. You will encounter this bug if you do not do this.
Like I said, this works most of the time. But then you find that one ship design that just wont work on. Luckily after just upgrading fleet 5+ times and save/load a few times they went from 21/0 to 21/21 and I changed ship design immediately.
Yeah. Always heal completely first. Then upgrade completely first. Then add new ships. And never use auto-best as ship design.
