also the AI is supposed to become much less hostile when a crisis is happening because, well, theres kinda a bigger threat than another normal empire
I generally avoid making defensive pacts with the AI because, without fail, every defensive pact I make gets me dragged into a war with an FE that I am in no way ready to fight. and because the AI targets the player first, I always end up getting smashed even though im not the one they are mad at
So I would try to bunker up and do anything and everything you can to increase your fleet to a point where you can beat their ~90k attack fleets, even if it means converting all your labs/unity buildings to energy and mineral production to fund it because sooner or later the other nearby AIs will throw their crap at the crisis, you just have to survive long enough to join them then.
actually both fallen empire did that. and they lost thier fleets...
so i desided, that i neede to move towards north...
the contingency started in south and in west of the galaxy, using every wormhole they could to invade me..
anyway i started a war with one of the fallen, and by luck gained all thier tech.. so fully upgraded shields and armor... and soon after i got the galaxy defender against crisis.
now i where able to defend myself against the Con´s medium fleet size... i had to go over my cap to do that, but instead of losing an entire fleet each battle, i now only lost 1/3 of it..
i still lost the battle to Con´s fleetpower if they where around 40k higher than mine...
it was a long battle of resourses, only due to the fallens planets and his space station i somehow manage to stay on top of it, that and another 1/4 ring world i had achived...
at this houer i had moved my capital away form the Con´s constant attack.. to the 1/4 ringworld.. and it had multiple smaller races living onto them...
then suddenly one of these raised to the space era... and took over my capital... really wierd... and once more my capital where in danger+ all my sectors dissapered... It where a huge chaos... and my resourses where dropping faster than i could collect... my fleets still in war with the Con´s from time to time...
at this point i where sweating....
then federations started to happen... and since i had the strongest fleetpower at this time. everyone joined my fleet power... we now had equal power to the Con´s defending fleets... and i took the oppotunity to strike... after a few hundred years a war that had lasted nearly 1000 years where at its breakpoint.. the galaxy on the winning side..
now i´m batteling the survivors. trying to gain old friends back, but due to some.... wierd federations connections... every empire kinda refuses to be my friend... and each federation is as strong as i am.... or close... it is exiting... i do have a full acesion peck atm... and my latest battle clearly indicates that i am stronger if i´m carefull. Winning a fight against the strongest fleet in the galaxy besides mine..
but the resourses, speciel the Gems is really hard to harvest fast enough to gain a bigger fleet. maybe there is something i miss?
anyway sry the long post, but i just wanted to share the resoult. "Keyword to beat Contingecy is Federation"...
bet you find the result of this war much more satisfying than saying "this is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" and then chucking the game in the garbage
On a reminder if you face the contingecy later games if you wont make it. If you kill there first 2 fleets, it take some time before they send out more, giving you time to build up and hit their planets. Still you should have around 160 fleet cap. By the default time for any crisis to start. Also if you have supremancy, use the hit and run, or whatever the thing that gives +20% retreat chance.
(My game was on a 1.0 strenght. With is around a 300k defense fleet for there planets. With 2 of them spawning in my empire.)
